Ways to join and play at Two Dot Mahjongg Community.
Welcome to Open Play, where players who have taken a lesson or played for a while gather around the table! Jennie is there for questions but not available for teaching. Guidelines/housekeeping notes: 1. Registration is still required through Auburn Parks and Rec, I have linked it so if you have not registered, you will be able to here. 2. Bring your Official NMJL card, I have for sale if you need one! 3. This app is to RSVP to let us know you are coming, and now you can see too who is coming! 4. Bring snacks to share! We love to eat almost as we love to play Mahjongg! 5. Registration does not guarantee a table of 4. We have tables of 2 and 3 sometimes which brings great strategy challenges. Rotating tables is a great way to connect with others!
Jennie teaches the game in thoughtful layers - using a clear, step-by-step approach that connects the game to familiar concepts. She honors the traditions and respect that make Mahjongg timeless while making the learning process approachable and accessible. This class is designed for those who have never played in person - the true beginner. Players will learn tiles, terminology, the NMJL card, Charleston, exposures, and foundational strategy in a structured, supportive setting. The instruction continues on day two, reinforcing best practices, strengthening decision-making, and building the consistency that makes smooth gameplay feel more natural. Players will deepen their understanding of NMJL rules, table procedures, and game flow while gaining comfort at the table. Once you complete this class, join open play opportunities to reinforce what you have learned.
